Bam: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ou©draogo, inaugurated a Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in Gougr©, in the commune of Guibar©. The infrastructure, valued at over 100 million CFA francs, was constructed by the special delegation, facilitated by the local development mining fund.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this modern and fully equipped CSPS comprises a dispensary, a maternity ward, a generic essential medicines depot, two nursing homes, several latrine blocks, and an incinerator. It is equipped with a solar power system and a simplified drinking water supply system, ensuring essential services are accessible.

Kiswendsida Benjamin Ou©draogo, president of the special delegation of Guibar©, noted that the initiative for this center originated with the former municipal council. After the dissolution of the municipal councils, the special delegation paused the project to obtain authorization from the Ministry of Health, which was subsequently granted. The project was then approved and financed through the local development mining fund.

The CSPS was built in compliance with a standard specification set by the Ministry of Health, ensuring it meets current standards. Dr. Arzouma Idrissa Ou©draogo, head physician of the Kongoussi health district, confirmed that the infrastructure aligns with health authority recommendations and will enhance healthcare access for the local community.

Aly Sawadogo, a representative of the mining company Bissa Gold, highlighted the positive impact of mining contributions on local development. He emphasized that taxes and obligations paid by the company are returned to the state, benefiting the communities affected by mining activities, exemplified by the establishment of the CSPS in Gougr©.

High Commissioner Karim Ou©draogo emphasized the importance of maintaining the CSPS to ensure it continues to serve the community effectively. The commune of Guibar©, impacted by Bissa Gold’s mining activities, saw the village of Gougr© relocated due to the mine’s expansion.
