Burkina Faso Delegation Heads to 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia

Moscow: A Burkinabe delegation, led by the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabr© Gouba, is set to participate in the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia from June 18-25. Accompanying the minister are the Special Advisor to the President of Faso, Nicolas Kagamb¨ga, and key players in the energy sector, including the Director General of Energy, Alidou Koutou, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electricity Company of Burkina (SONABEL), Dramane Bitibaly.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Burkinabe delegation will engage in meetings with Russian energy officials, including the Russian Minister of Energy and representatives from the nuclear energy sector. Discussions are expected to be held with the Director General of Rosatom and potentially the head of Gazprom.



The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) serves as a significant platform for global economic and business exchanges, particularly for emerging and developing countries. The event will encompass plenary sessions with participation from specialists, experts, and scientists, alongside negotiations, bilateral meetings, and round table discussions.



In the previous edition held in 2024, SPIEF attracted participation from 134 countries and saw the signing of agreements amounting to 6,492 billion rubles, with certain amounts remaining undisclosed due to commercial confidentiality.
