The Burkinabè government has ordered the concessionaire of the Ouagadougou-Abidjan railway (SITARAIL) to resume service of the “passenger train” in November for the happiness of the populations, we learned AIB.

Note that the operator cited the security context, the deterioration of infrastructure and the lack of authorization from the Ivorian party to reject the resumption of service, as it had committed to on several occasions.

The Burkinabè government brushed aside these pretexts and informed SITARAIL of the existence of a national strategy to combat terrorism and the fact that the authorization mentioned is being discussed essentially between the two governments.

As for the deterioration of infrastructure, the Burkinabe executive notes that the Railway Investment Fund has already granted additional credits for their repair in order to facilitate the resumption of passenger trains.

In any case, in accordance with its commitments, the Burkinabe State demands the resumption of passenger trains in November and the service of several stations across the country to boost the economy and for the happiness of the populations.

Also, he refuses to take responsibility for the possible damages linked to this activity that SITARAIL suddenly claims.
