The Beeog-Neere Association of Ganzourgou (ABNG) handed over a large batch of materials to 120 farmers in the province on March 5, 2024. The ceremony held at the association’s headquarters in Zorgho was chaired by the secretary general of the province of Ganzourgou, Harouna Karambiri, representing the High Commissioner, in the presence of directors and heads of provincial services and representatives of presidents of special municipal delegations.
An atmosphere of hope and determination reigned during the equipment handover ceremony organized by ABNG. Indeed, 120 farmers from six groups in the communes of Boudry, Méguet, Salogo, Zam and Zorgho benefited from considerable equipment.
Made up of 120 wheelbarrows, 120 buckets, 120 rakes, 120 watering cans, as well as various tools such as hammers, ropes, gloves, tape measurers, sloping triangles and 18 tonnes of cement, this equipment will allow beneficiaries to put in practice water and soil conservation techniques with a view to increasing agricultural produc
tivity. In addition to this material, training is planned. Materials and training are valued at more than 20 million FCFA and are financed by the NGO SOLIDAR Switzerland as part of the project to strengthen the livelihoods of vulnerable populations (PROREMO-PV).
André Bouga Ouédraogo, president of the ABNG, underlined the importance of this support for the 120 beneficiary farmers. He expressed his gratitude to SOLIDAR Suisse for its continued support and urged the beneficiaries to use the materials seriously in order to increase their production and fight poverty. According to him, as is customary, each beneficiary is expected to receive at least 20 kg of cereal at the end of the agricultural campaign to support vulnerable people through a day of solidarity.
The provincial director of agriculture of Ganzourgou, Sey Ouédraogo welcomed this initiative as an invaluable opportunity for local producers. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment and to put into practice the techniques taug
ht during the training.
Harouna Karambiri, secretary general of the province, thanked ABNG and SOLIDAR Suisse for their commitment to producers. He congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to redouble their efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency in the province. ‘The earth is not expandable. We must therefore take care of arable land so that it serves future generations,’ he recalled.
As for the spokesperson for the beneficiaries, El Hadj Ablassé Ouédraogo, he expressed everyone’s gratitude to ABNG and SOLIDAR Suisse. He expressed the commitment of all beneficiaries to work with the equipment provided and to ensure good maintenance to increase agricultural yields.
This ceremony marks a significant step in the efforts deployed for more than a decade by the ABNG, in partnership with SOLIDAR Suisse, to support farmers, market gardeners and breeders in Ganzourgou through the provision of equipment and training. These actions are essential to strengthen food security and promote sustainable agricul
tural development in the province.
