Local Stakeholders in Bogandé Commit to Successful Typhoid Vaccination Campaign

Bogandé: The various stakeholders of the Bogandé health district agreed on Friday, January 18, 2025, to successfully carry out the national vaccination campaign against typhoid fever scheduled for January 23 to 29, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, during an advocacy workshop held on Friday, January 19, 2025, under the initiative of the Bogandé health district, administrative, customary, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, association leaders, and media managers all made a commitment to play their part for the smooth running of the national typhoid fever vaccination campaign.

The campaign is scheduled to take place from January 23 to 29, 2025, throughout the national territory. In the Bogandé health district alone, 240,824 children aged 9 months to 14 years are expected to be vaccinated. Typhoid fever, caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi, is a highly contagious disease that can lead to serious complications or even death. Prevention and control measures include access to safe
drinking water, adequate sanitation, health education, adherence to hygiene measures when handling food, and vaccination.

Dr. Moussa Sawadogo, all arrangements have been made to successfully carry out this campaign in the district. Dr. Sawadogo emphasized the importance of support from all stakeholders, particularly the defense and security forces, to ensure accessibility to certain areas. ‘Strategies will be implemented to give the entire target the chance to get vaccinated,’ he stated.

The High Commissioner of the Gnagna province, Jean Baptiste Béogo, also called for the commitment and involvement of all stakeholders for the success of this vaccination campaign against typhoid fever.
