Ouagadougou: The Minister of Security, Commissioner Mahamadou Sana, has called on the fighters of the Mobile Intervention Unit Group (GUMI) in the commune of Fo, Hauts-Bassins, to let the sacrifices of their fallen comrades inspire their determination. During his visit on Saturday, Commissioner Sana emphasized the importance of honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister addressed the GUMI fighters on January 18, 2025, as part of his ongoing tour to encourage and pay tribute to the security forces in the region. He urged them to remain vigilant against subversion and disinformation that could undermine their morale. Commissioner Sana also stressed the need for solidarity and collaboration among all forces engaged in the region’s operations.

“I would like, through you, to also pay tribute to all the GUMI who are doing remarkable work to reclaim the territory,” he stated, highlighting the crucial role of the GUMI in the nation’s defense efforts.

Minister Sana traveled to Fo by road, witnessing firsthand the achievements of the GUMI. He pledged to work towards improving their working conditions, acknowledging the challenges they face. In response, the GUMI fighters reaffirmed their commitment to liberating the national territory, stating, “We have no other nation, we will not go anywhere, and this nation, we will liberate it at the price of the supreme sacrifice.”

The Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) in Fo also received words of encouragement from the Minister, reinforcing his support for all security forces engaged in the region.
