Ouagadougou: The Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has publicly denounced what he describes as an act of sabotage by two mechanics from the national airline, Air Burkina. The incident, which Traoré equates to a lack of patriotism, involves the mechanics resigning following their unmet demands for a salary increase of 2 million CFA francs each. The resignations were submitted shortly after the arrival of a new aircraft for the airline.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Ibrahim Traoré criticized the mechanics’ actions in a message broadcast on national television. He noted that despite the board of directors offering an increase of 400,000 CFA francs, the mechanics refused to work. He emphasized that their resignations, submitted on September 3, one day after the aircraft’s arrival, were unacceptable, and insisted that they must continue their duties.
The Head of State lamented the mechanics’ behavior compared to their air force counterparts, who work tirelessly without demanding additiona
l compensation. Traoré asserted that such attitudes must be addressed and that those attempting to sabotage operations will face necessary measures.
Captain Traoré highlighted the importance of confronting challenges as part of a revolution and declared that any form of sabotage will not be tolerated. He urged the people of Burkina Faso to contribute to the welfare of the broader populace and emphasized that the country’s wealth should benefit all, not just a select few.
Traoré concluded his address by urging Burkinabe citizens to work towards alleviating the suffering of the masses, stating that the time for awareness-raising has ended and action is now required.
