EGYPT REOPENS RAFAH BORDER CROSSING WITH GAZA

CAIRO, Egyptian authorities Saturday reopened the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip, allowing stranded Palestinians to cross in and out of the coastal territory.

An Egyptian medical source said that a medical team and ambulances had been prepared to move severe medical cases from Gaza for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

Security had been tightened at the crossing to secure the movement of travelers from Gaza, and heavy traffic was reported on the Al Arish-Rafah international highway as Palestinians were returning to Gaza from abroad.
