Gourma: As part of their activities, the Gathering of Intelligences for the Sovereignty of Africa (RISA) trained 60 young people from the Eastern region during their 2nd edition of alternative youth universities. According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General of RISA, Dr. Boubacar Nébié, who is also a lecturer and researcher at Yembila Abdoulaye Togyéni University in Fada N’Gourma, explained that the initiative aims to equip activists and supporters with knowledge on current national and global issues.
Dr. Nébié stated that the alternative universities are designed to help young people understand the complexities of geopolitics and geostrategy, particularly in the context of globalization. The training aims to shed light on the struggle led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré since he came to power on September 30, 2022.
During the two-day event in Fada N’Gourma, four main themes were addressed: “Citizen Monitoring and Defense of the Homeland,” “Confederation of the AES: Assets and Challenges,” “Gover
nance of Rupture of Captain Ibrahim Traoré: Major Reforms and Perspectives,” and “Western Democracy: A Panacea for the Ills of Africa?” These themes were specifically chosen to help participants understand and engage with current socio-political dynamics.
Moumouni Yougbaré, the regional coordinator of RISA in the East, expressed his appreciation for the training session. He expressed hope that the training would equip the young attendees to raise awareness among the masses for a prosperous Burkina Faso.
