Malawi coach Ernest Mtawali has released a 26-member squad of home- based players for a training camp ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland on 6 September 2015 in Lobamba.
Appointed last month on a year-long contract, Mtawali has summoned some new players in the squad such as Moyale Barracks’ Juma Chikwenga, Chisomo Mpachika (Kamuzu Barracks) and Jaffalie Chande (Big Bullets).
Foreign based players including captain Joseph Kamwendo of TP Mazembe are expected to beef up the squad for Mtawali who insists that at the national team level camping for some seven days ahead of a match is enough.
In a statement, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda said the players are expected to arrive in camp on Sunday, 16 August 2015 whilst training commences on Monday, 17 August 2015 at the Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.
Malawi sits at the bottom of Group L after 2-1 home loss to Zimbabwe in the opening match last June.
