After a few months of school holidays, students returned to school on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 .
The official launch of the 2024-2025 school year in the Boucle du Mouhoun region took place at the Sainte Cécile school complex in Dédougou, by the governor of the region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, coupled with the monthly rotating raising of the colors, in the presence of regional authorities.
The governor paid a vibrant tribute to the various education stakeholders who work daily to meet the challenge of education in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.
Mr. Bassinga, wished that the school be a place where respect for the teacher reigns, a school where the internal regulations are respected, a school free from incivility, smoking and objects t
hat will harm others.
In direct language with the students, he invited them to get rid of smartphones at school and in traffic because they are the cause of several serious and often fatal accidents.
At the end of the raising of the colours, the customary and religious authorities of the city first prayed for peace in Burkina Faso and made blessings for a school year of hard work, peace, cohesion and success.
On behalf of the regional departments in charge of Education, the Regional Director (DR) in charge of Secondary Education of Boucle du Mouhoun, Dr Denis Vimboué, hoped that the school year would be peaceful and studious so that everyone could fully play their part in promoting the cause of education in a context marked by the curriculum reform which is entering its decisive phase this school year.
“Education as the crucible of the future of our country Burkina Faso, requires special attention from each and every one,” he said.
For Dr Denis Vimboué, ensuring a good education for Burkinabe children is
the major concern of the highest authorities in our country and of the various heads of ministries in charge of education.
“This is why they spare no effort to ensure that the education system can enable each of them to have sufficient and necessary resources and skills so that when the time comes, they can create the conditions for individual and collective development,” explained Dr. Vimboué.
He stressed that the success of this reform requires the commitment and support of all.
According to him, the conduct of educational activities in the region is faced with numerous challenges linked to the security issue.
“Fortunately, we note with great hope a clear improvement in this situation thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of the FDS and the VDP to whom we pay a vibrant tribute,” he said.
The students committed to making the school a place of learning while remaining well-behaved in accordance with the internal regulations.
Likewise, they took two resolutions, one of which relates to the use of smartpho
nes at school and in traffic and the other for the planting and maintenance of trees in the school grounds.
A sketch was presented by the students on the dangers of smartphones at school.
To encourage students to read, a presentation of the collection of short stories ‘Journal d’un vacancier’ by Laurent Kilachu Bado was made by the French teacher, S. Richard A. Aziz Zongo.
The presentation aimed to whet the students’ taste for reading and to encourage them to share the author’s dream by making his fight their own.
According to the exhibitor, the work embraces a vast set of themes which today constitute major themes in Burkina Faso and Africa in search of emancipation.
Themes inherent to Africanness such as solidarity and fraternal mutual aid, the return to ancestral values ??which oppose mimicry and duplicity, are values ??advocated by the authorities of the Transition.
The authorities have planted a few trees while inviting each class in the different establishments to plant and maintain at least one t
ree.
