SAFA WELCOMES COURT DECISION DISMISSAL OF BID BY FORMER BAFANA COACH

JOHANNESBURG,The South African Football Association (SAFA) has welcomed the Labour Court's dismissal of former national football coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba's bid to prevent the national soccer body from appointing another coach.

The court in Johannesburg heard Mashaba's application on Tuesday. Mashaba wanted the court to prevent SAFA from hiring a new head coach for the national team until the finalisation of his dismissal challenge at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

Mashaba was fired as coach in December after a disciplinary committee found him guilty of gross misconductS insubordination and violating SAFA's communications policy.

This came after Mashaba had lashed out at his SAFA bosses following Bafana's 2-1 win over Senegal in a World Cup qualifier in Polokwane in November, 2016.
