Kaya: The Bayir Mebo Association (ABM) organized a community day titled “Buud Warba for Peace in Kaya” on September 24, 2025. The event aimed to celebrate social cohesion and peace among local communities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was chaired by Mrs. Minoungou/Kima Solange, President of the Kaya Special Communal Delegation, and co-sponsored by Woumnog Nabila of Sandbondtenga, Hamed Ouedraogo, Provincial Director of Communication, Arts and Tourism of Sandbondtenga, and Abdoulaye Bamogo, Provincial Director of Humanitarian Action of Sandbondtenga.
The Seminary’s internally displaced persons (IDP) site in Kaya Sector 7 was the venue for the third edition of this community day. The event provided a platform for approximately ten host and internally displaced communities to showcase their cultural heritage through traditional dances, clothing parades, historical storytelling, and traditional culinary delights.
Poussi Diande, president of the initiating association, stated that the activity aims to enhance social cohesion and peaceful coexistence among different communities. He noted that the event also contributes to conflict prevention and management, highlighting the increasing enthusiasm for the event over the years.
Local authorities expressed their appreciation for the initiative. Adama Simpore, first vice-president of the Special Municipal Delegation, acknowledged the harmony between the communities and thanked the Bayir Mebo Association for supporting peace efforts.
Hamed Ouedraogo, provincial director in charge of culture in Sandbondtenga and spokesperson for the co-sponsors, emphasized that organizing such a ceremony at an IDP site showcases solidarity and social cohesion towards displaced individuals. He also noted that the event aligns with the State’s policies on cultural promotion.
