Bissiga: Three hundred internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the commune of Bissiga received food this Thursday, as part of a distribution operation led by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in collaboration with the Burkinabe Red Cross. The official ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Red Cross in Tenkodogo, under the chairmanship of the Governor of the Nakamb© region, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this is the third round of food distribution organized by the ICRC in Tenkodogo. Since the launch of this operation, 1,800 internally displaced people have benefited from humanitarian assistance. “These supplies will make a big difference for my family, especially the children,” said Elisabeth Yougbare, a beneficiary from the commune of Bissiga.

The Governor of the region welcomed the commitment of the ICRC and the mobilization of the Burkinabe Red Cross, while recalling that this action is part of the call for solidarity launched by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination between the different actors in order to reach the populations most exposed to insecurity.

This distribution comes during the lean season and is taking place amid a context of massive population displacement due to insecurity. It aims to meet urgent food needs while contributing to community stability. The ICRC reaffirmed its intention to continue its activities alongside local actors, in conjunction with the authorities and community structures.
