The Centers for Child and Youth Development (CDEJ) in the commune of Bogandé celebrated, Saturday, in a delayed manner, the day dedicated to the African child, in Bogandé in Gnagna. On the occasion, food was offered to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Day of the African Child (JEA) was celebrated on a delayed basis, Saturday June 22, 2024, in Bogandé in the province of Gnagna. The initiative is Child and Youth Development Centers (CDEJ) in collaboration with the evangelical churches of Bogandé.
The commemorative ceremony was punctuated by speeches, performances by children and a presentation of food. In total, 60 bags of 25 kilograms of rice worth 720,000 francs were distributed to children in difficult family living conditions. According to the president of the organizing committee, Daniel Tindano, this solidarity action aims to provide some relief to the beneficiaries.
The event mobilized in addition to children, administrative, customary and religious authorities. The theme chosen for this e
dition is ‘Problem of protecting the rights of the family and the child in a context of security and humanitarian crises’.
For Mahama Bassirou Zagré, head of the Solidarity department at the Provincial Directorate of Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family, the theme calls on all stakeholders to pay more attention and take action in favor of children during this difficult time that Burkina Faso is going through. To children’s spokesperson Sonia Yebougou, to plead with the highest authorities for complete support for the benefit of all children and more consideration for child victims of terrorism.
‘The Development Centers for Children and Youth welcome 1,300 residents in the commune of Bogandé, among whom 1,191 are enrolled in primary and secondary education,’ Pastor Fidel Tindano of the Assemblies of God church told us. In short, the CDEJs constitute childcare frameworks to ensure their holistic development.
The representative of the High Commissioner of Gnagna, Aldjima Lankoandé w
elcomed the efforts made by the NGO Compassion through the establishment of CDEJs since 2015 in Gnagna. He also congratulated the organizers for the initiative before inviting stakeholders and partners to be more involved in order to ensure special protection for children.
The final of the football competition between CDEJ brought an end to this commemorative day of the Day of the African Child.
