Boulgou: Preparations for the 7th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award (PNET), set to take place on October 9 and 10, 2025, in Tenkodogo, Nakambe region, are advancing well. The Director of Tourism Industry Development, Mr. Kadre Sawadogo, provided this assurance during a press conference dedicated to assessing the progress of the work.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the PNET was established in 2019 by the Ministry of Tourism as a platform to recognize and promote contributors and enterprises within the tourism sector. The theme for this 7th edition is “Competitiveness of tourism businesses and promotion of the Burkina Faso destination.” Mr. Sawadogo highlighted that this theme urges both private entities and public administration to enhance service quality and bolster the country’s appeal. The event aims to encourage discussion on resilience and competitiveness within the sector to strengthen Burkina Faso’s standing regionally and internationally.

Beyond the awards, PNET serves as a motivational platform for tourism players who persist in their efforts despite the security challenges. Since its inception, more than 100 companies have been acknowledged, showcasing the sector’s vibrancy. The 2025 edition is significant as it marks the first time the event is being held in Tenkodogo, moving from its usual location in Ouagadougou. Mr. Sawadogo noted that this relocation reflects the ministry’s commitment to promote regional tourism and highlight local heritage.

The program will commence with a sightseeing tour on October 9 to explore Nakambe’s attractions, followed by a panel discussion on the central theme, designed to foster reflection and experience exchange. The main event will occur on October 10 at 7 p.m. at the Laafi Hotel, featuring live broadcasts on national television and regional media. This event will include artistic performances, a fashion show, and the awarding of 22 trophies to winners.

The organizing committee reports a commendable level of preparation: juries have concluded nominee selections, presentation videos are prepared, and public and private partner engagement, along with Nakambe resident involvement, is increasing to ensure the event’s success.

PNET 2025 is poised to be a display of tourism excellence and national resilience. Through this event, the Ministry seeks to reaffirm the Burkinabe people’s commitment to fostering a robust tourism industry that contributes to wealth creation and peace.

Mr. Kadre Sawadogo concluded by urging all sector stakeholders, partners, and media to come together to ensure PNET 2025 is “a resounding success and a living tribute to the vitality of Burkinabe tourism.”
