Boulgou: Tourism Stakeholders Reflect on the Competitiveness of Businesses in Burkina Faso

Boulgou: The Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Betamou Fidele Aymar Tamini, launched on Friday a panel aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Burkinabe tourism businesses and developing innovative strategies to improve the visibility of Burkina Faso as a destination on regional and international markets. This initiative is part of the 7th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award (PNET).



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General emphasized the need for businesses and stakeholders to develop competitive services and products to attract more visitors. He highlighted the importance of maintaining and continuously improving the quality of services, innovating through new communication tools, and enhancing the professionalism of stakeholders. The panel, centered on the theme ‘Competitiveness of tourism businesses and promotion of the Burkina Faso destination’, seeks to address these issues.



The Secretary-General stressed the importance of diversifying offerings to meet customer needs and expressed expectations for innovative solutions and concrete recommendations to improve the business environment in the sector. He called on participants to contribute to the discussions to create a more resilient and competitive tourism sector.



Monique Ilboudo, Director General of Tourism, urged stakeholders to be professional to create favorable conditions for investment in Burkina Faso. She emphasized the need for competitiveness to capture significant shares of international, national, and regional markets. Ilboudo highlighted the importance of maintaining service quality in both domestic and international tourism contexts.



Panelist Abdoulaye Sankara discussed the need to revive tourism activity in Burkina Faso, focusing on the fundamentals that enable recovery, including business competitiveness. He pointed out the importance of preparing to be competitive with internal and international competitors, aiming to recover and increase market share for both the destination and tourism businesses.



The 7th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award (PNET) is scheduled from October 9 to 10, 2025, in Tenkodogo, under the theme of promoting competitiveness and the Burkina Faso destination. The Tourism Entrepreneur’s Night, marking the culmination of PNET, will be held on October 10 and broadcast live on RTB channels.
