Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe media this Wednesday, September 24, focus on the opening of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York and the 69th edition of the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the 80th UN General Assembly commenced yesterday in New York. World leaders, including Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, are expected to present their views on global issues. Over a hundred heads of state and government are gathered for this significant session, where the general debate started with an audience of global leaders.

Sidwaya, a public daily, spotlights the assembly under the headline “80th General Assembly: The grand mass of a ‘fragile world peace.'” The newspaper highlights Prime Minister Ouedraogo’s commitment to bolstering multilateralism and fostering a more equitable world. Annalena Baerbock, the new President of the UN General Assembly, noted that the anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the UN’s achievements and future challenges.
