Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso Stallions goalkeeper Herve Kouakou Koffi has been ruled out of Wednesday evening’s match against Sierra Leone, according to the Burkina Faso Football Federation. Koffi, who plays for Angers, is dealing with physical problems and will not participate in the crucial game.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the decision to exclude Koffi from the match was made by the coaching staff in agreement with the player, with the aim of maximizing his chances of recovery. Koffi is expected to rejoin the team in Ouagadougou for their October 12 match against Ethiopia.
Burkina Faso is set to compete against Sierra Leone at 4 p.m. GMT in Group A of the 9th day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
