The Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, praised, yesterday Friday, the new ambassador of the United States of America to Burkina Faso for the listening approach that she intends to put forward in her mandate, to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
‘This is what we expect from all our partners. Let them hear us in relation to our needs, (…). We want them to listen to us, understand us and ask us questions when they have them,’ said Minister Jean Marie Traoré.
The new US ambassador to Burkina Joann Lockard, following an audience with Minister Traoré, said she came to listen to her counterpart on the country’s expectations in its cooperation with the United States.
For her, her country has an approach which consists of supporting, but respecting the sovereignty and expectations of Burkina Faso.
‘For the moment, I am in a phase of listening to your expectations to raise them to the level of Washington,’ she indicated while expressing her enthusiasm to serve
in Burkina Faso, a country that she knows well for having already worked there.
Minister Karamoko also hoped that Burkina Faso’s other partners would adopt the same approach as that of the American diplomat instead of focusing on their principles and not on the reality on the ground.
