The 3rd plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, which took place from July 15 to 18, has closed its curtains. It was a moment eagerly awaited by the Chinese public and the whole world.

A long communiqué published on July 18 charts the path of China’s development in its social, economic and political affairs. It was said that “openness is a hallmark of modernization with Chinese characteristics.”

China will pledge to “stay true to the fundamental policy of opening up, rely on opening up to drive reform, take advantage of its huge domestic market and increase its capacity for opening up in enlargement.” of international cooperation.

This brings to mind the cooperation between China and Africa, visible on numerous economic platforms and during dedicated forums.

These events allow the Chinese to discover a multitude of African products, while strengthening economic and cultural exchanges between the two regions.

China remains an attractive market for African products.

At the Chi
na-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha last year, the International Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an area of ??100,000 square meters, hosted a unique encounter between African products and Chinese brands.

Roses from Kenya, coffee from Uganda, wine from South Africa and bark paintings from Mali were showcased to Chinese and international visitors.

These African products, harmoniously displayed alongside Chinese brands, have created a vibrant space for discovery and cultural exchange.

The delicious taste of Benin pineapple, first introduced at the CIIE last November, attracted many visitors, and recently, this pineapple was approved for import into the Chinese market.

According to Benin’s Ambassador to China, Simon-Pierre Adovelande, preparations for its importation are already underway, illustrating the success of trade between China and Africa.

These exhibitions also provide valuable cooperation opportunities. In 2021, during a live broadcast at the Shanghai Expo, Rwanda’s local produ
cts, such as coffee beans, chili pepper and black tea, were showcased and sold online.

That day, a streaming sales record was achieved. The coffee bags were all sold out.

Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, James Kimonyo said their biggest challenge was not finding customers, but not having enough stock in Rwanda to meet the growing demand in China.

The result of the 3rd Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China suggests a reassuring and positive note in promoting trade cooperation between China and foreign countries.

This could lead to an increase in African products sold in the Chinese market, and perhaps vice versa.
