Dedougou: As part of its activities to raise awareness and mobilize populations around the ideals of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) under the leadership of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, the organization “Le Vent Republicain” held a panel discussion on the theme: “Citizen participation in national security and the contribution of women to the Popular Progressive Revolution.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting allowed for discussions that called for unity, discipline, and civic engagement. The main objective was to enhance the involvement and contribution of women in national security efforts and the continuation of the Progressive Popular Revolution. The panel sought to raise awareness of current security issues, clarify mechanisms for citizen participation, and consolidate dialogue between the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the population to create lasting synergy.
A blood donation was made for the benefit of the FDS, symbolizing solidarity and support for the forces engaged on the ground. Dieudonne Tougfo, President of the Special Delegation of Dedougou, emphasized discipline and respect for procedures in supporting President Ibrahim Traore. He stated that everyone has a role to play in contributing to the RPP’s success.
Batio Adama Nignan, the regional coordinator of the Republican Wind in Bankui, paid tribute to the FDS and stressed that national security and revolution require the participation of all. He highlighted the importance of changing mentality and behavior to align with Captain Ibrahim Traore’s vision for a united and prosperous Faso.
The panel’s sponsor, Issa Gnanou, emphasized security as a collective responsibility, echoing the Head of State’s words that security must be ensured by the Burkinabe themselves. He noted the theme’s relevance in highlighting women’s roles in community cohesion and resilience, urging citizens to assess their roles in defending the homeland.
Oscar Seraphin Ki, national coordinator of the Republican Wind, explained that the panel aimed to make every Burkinabe, especially women, an active force in territorial security and the RPP’s success. He described the struggle as one for African emancipation, requiring responsibility and commitment.
Captain David W. Ouedraogo, commander of the 10th Rapid Intervention Battalion, emphasized the importance of women’s active involvement in national security. He highlighted their roles as educators and community mobilizers, calling for institutionalized dialogue and training in active citizenship to overcome socio-cultural barriers.
