Didyr: The commune of Didyr, located in the province of Sanguie, recently held a ceremony to honor academic excellence under the theme ‘Academic excellence, a springboard for patriotic commitment and endogenous development’. The event was sponsored by Mr. Gilbert Bassole and Mrs. Badolo/Kando Rachel and was overseen by the High Commissioner of the province of Sanguie, Mrs. Talari Germaine Ouoba, represented by the Secretary General, Mrs. Antoinette Ouedraogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Abdoulaye Yaogo, president of the special delegation of Didyr, praised the collective efforts of education stakeholders, parents, and partners in promoting academic merit. He acknowledged the challenges posed by logistical and financial constraints but commended the community’s dedication to maintaining educational quality.

Mr. Gilbert Bassole, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, expressed pride in supporting the initiative. He highlighted the commitment of teachers, the perseverance of students, and the support of parents, emphasizing that academic excellence should enhance patriotism and love for the country. Drawing inspiration from Joseph Ki-Zerbo and Thomas Sankara, Bassole encouraged young people to persevere and ‘invent the future’ through work and discipline.

Ms. Antoinette Ouedraogo highlighted the importance of education as the foundation for development and the future of society. She urged local educational authorities to persist in their efforts despite challenges such as inadequate resources. Ouedraogo called on educational stakeholders to seek endogenous solutions to these issues and to strengthen collaboration for a resilient education system.

She also paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland for their role in maintaining peace, which is crucial for academic success. The ceremony concluded with an award presentation for outstanding students and teachers. Winner Sawadogo Ebenezer from Didyr High School expressed his gratitude and motivation to excel further in his academic pursuits.
