Ouagadougou: Philosophy professor and pan-Africanist Franklin Nyamsi has launched a provocative new book titled “Imperial Terrorism,” which he presented and signed in Ouagadougou. In the book, Nyamsi asserts that terrorism in Africa is orchestrated by Western powers as a means of recolonization, rather than being rooted in religious motives.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Nyamsi addressed an audience of intellectuals, lawyers, and students, claiming that what is often labeled as “jihadism” in Africa is a recolonization strategy executed by Western countries and certain Middle Eastern allies. He challenges the notion of a religious war by questioning the logic of Muslims killing Muslims to convert them to Islam.

The book leverages official Western documents to substantiate Nyamsi’s claims. He cites emails from former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, revealed by Wikileaks, which he argues show that the intervention in Libya was not about promoting democracy but aimed at preventing Colonel Gaddafi from establishing an independent African currency.

Nyamsi also references a plea from Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou to then-US President Barack Obama to refrain from destabilizing Libya, to which Obama reportedly responded with determination to complete the mission, hinting at a broader agenda to destabilize the region.

Further, Nyamsi discusses a conversation reported by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in which French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius allegedly admitted that France was preparing to combat groups in Mali that it had previously armed in Libya.

In his call to action, Nyamsi urges for unity against this recolonization under the guise of religious motives and advocates for holding terrorists accountable in international courts. He also emphasizes the need for genuine African unity to establish a respected power in a multipolar world.

The book, priced at 10,000 FCFA, will be distributed to universities across Burkina Faso, as desired by President Ibrahim Traore. It is available at Librairie Jeunesse d’Afrique and Mercury, consisting of approximately two hundred pages and organized into five chapters detailing the evidence presented by the author.
