Ouagadougou: The NGO Compassion International Burkina Faso celebrated the conclusion of the second edition of its national competition “My Talent” by awarding prizes to the top three participants in each discipline, including cultural, sporting, and musical categories. The awards were presented on Friday, marking the culmination of a series of events that showcased the exceptional abilities of young participants.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Issaka Kiemtor©, Country Director of Compassion International Burkina Faso, emphasized the organization’s belief in the innate potential of every child. He stated that the winners were recognized for their outstanding performances across various fields such as music, culture, art, sport, civic education, entrepreneurship, and interpersonal skills. Kiemtor© highlighted the NGO’s daily efforts, in collaboration with partner evangelical churches, to nurture and protect these young talents, asserting that the “My Talent” competition serves as a platform for self-expression and encouragement.
He further noted that many of the participants come from humble backgrounds but possess immense talent and creativity. The competition, therefore, provides them with an opportunity to assert themselves within society. Kiemtor© expressed gratitude to all contributors to the success of this year’s event.
Laurencia Sanou/Napon, the representative of the Minister in charge of Youth and technical advisor, praised the participants, acknowledging Burkina Faso’s youth as upright, courageous, and full of potential. She remarked that their projects and skills serve as beacons of hope in a national context that demands unity and innovation. Sanou/Napon emphasized that the young competitors have demonstrated their ability to reorganize and pursue their ambitions through their talents.
Adama Ouattara, a choreographer from the Child Development Center BF 142 in Bobo-Dioulasso and winner of the choreographic ballet prize, shared insights into his performance’s thematic focus on peace and relief for children suffering due to the country’s challenges. Ouattara expressed the group’s intent to address current issues and bring comfort through their artistic expression.
This year’s “My Talent” competition, held from July 14 to 18, 2025, in Ouagadougou, attracted 800 finalists and was held under the patronage of Burkinabe sports ambassador Charles Kabor©.
