Ioba: The municipal CEG hosted the raising of the colors marking the start of the school year: The Secretary General of the province of Ioba, Andre Lankoande, presided over the ceremony of the raising of the national colors marking the start of the 2025-2026 school year at the municipal general education college (CEG) of Dano, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in Ioba, like in other provinces, students returned to school last Wednesday. The resumption of secondary school activities was officially launched during a flag-raising ceremony at the Dano Municipal CEG.
Students, teachers, school managers, educational supervisors, and constituent bodies attended this solemn ceremony. The director of the host CEG, Mathias Tamboula, thanked the provincial authorities for choosing his school for the launch of the 2025-2026 school year. “We are working on resilience to make our students upright patriots, citizens capable of serving their country,” he said. According to Mr. Tamboula, the Dano Municipal CEG has 270 students.
The provincial director in charge of secondary education in Ioba, Joseph Kima, indicated that the start of the school year marks the renewal of our shared commitment to quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all young people in our province. “However, this start of the school year comes in a context marked by persistent challenges, notably the shortage of teaching staff and the lack of school life officers in several establishments,” noted Mr. Kima.
For the provincial director, it is imperative that the education system adapts to the needs of the labor market and local socio-economic realities. “This is why, from this back-to-school period, vocational training must be a priority,” he declared.
The Secretary General of the Ioba Province (SGP), Andre Lankoande, delivered the back-to-school message from the Minister in charge of secondary education. For this 2025-2026 school year, the Ministry of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training has defined five main areas that will guide their actions. These are the professionalism of learning, the call for civic-mindedness and patriotism, the operationalization of the school council, the continued promotion of Burkinabe consumption, and the promotion of the culture of excellence.
In his message, the Minister urged all education stakeholders to constantly bear in mind that education is not just about transmitting accumulated knowledge, it is about awakening curiosity, inspiring a taste for effort, and igniting in each learner the flame of responsibility and creativity. The SGP of Ioba thanked the constituted bodies for their constant mobilization.
