Ouagadougou: As part of the commemoration of its 20th anniversary, scheduled for October 4 to 18, 2025, the Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Documentary Information (ISTID) has undertaken a series of activities to mark its 20 years of serving documentary information for the preservation of national memory.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activities planned by the institute to commemorate the two decades of existence include an aerobics session and a visit to the Transitional Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, October 8. This will be followed by a visit to the national museum on Saturday, October 11.

ISTID activities will continue on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with a conference on the theme “Archives in the Digital Age” and a shared meal at the end of the discussions. “As part of ISTID’s 20th anniversary, we want to celebrate the school’s journey. Around 500 people have been trained at this institute, and they are currently employed in institutions, ministries, and banks,” said ISTID interim director Soubeiga Pascal.

According to him, 95% of archivists and librarians working in banks and insurance companies are graduates of the institute. Malo Naomi Karine Virginie, wife of Traore, a former ISTID student and archival advisor, emphasized the importance of these field trips as they allow all classes to learn more. She noted that the ALT visit provided an opportunity to learn about the history of the chamber and much other information that will be useful on a professional level.

The Institute of Documentary Information Sciences and Techniques, created in 2005, specializes in the fields of archiving, library science, and documentation.
