Ouagadougou: A mission composed of representatives from the General Directorate of Territorial Development (DGDT), the Technical Secretariat of the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) in Burkina Faso, and implementing partners visited Tenkodogo from July 16 to 17, 2025, to assess the results of ongoing projects in the Nakamb© region. It met with beneficiaries, local authorities, and technical partners to assess the impact of the interventions on the ground.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this mission is part of the monitoring and evaluation of projects funded by the PBF, with the main objective of assessing achievements in light of the objectives jointly defined by national authorities and implementing partners. In Tenkodogo, the delegation met with regional authorities, including the governor, Colonel Abdou Karim Lamizana, and the regional director of Humanitarian Action.

Testimonies collected from beneficiaries highlighted the concrete effects of the projects on local communities. Adja Rakiatou Balbon©, president of the Koumal© Association of Oumz©ogo, praised the impact of the training received in financial education, social cohesion, agri-food processing, and entrepreneurship. “Thanks to this training, we were able to set up savings groups, access credit, and develop income-generating activities. This income now allows us to educate our children and meet our basic needs,” she said.

For her part, Ms. Ly n©e Bilgo Awa, president of the Association of Media Presenters and Journalists in Nakamb© Languages, emphasized the importance of training on the responsible use of social media, particularly in the context of a security crisis. She called for support in the form of technical equipment.

St©phane Kodjo Agnigbagno, director of Radio LPC Tenkodogo, also highlighted the benefits of training on combating the financing of terrorism, data journalism, and information verification. “We now produce more reliable information. We now want to deepen our skills, particularly in the use of artificial intelligence in journalism,” he said.

Governor Colonel Lamizana praised the projects’ relevance. “These initiatives strengthen trust between the state and the population, support community resilience, and assist local development. The government remains a committed partner in their success,” he said.

The mission will continue its tour of the Nazinon region to take stock of the overall achievements, identify challenges, and identify areas for improvement. The findings will inform discussions at the next session of the Technical Committee for Project Monitoring (PBF) to strengthen the impact of these projects on peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
