Kourweogo: The mining company Nord Gold Niou SA handed over 145 tons of corn to families and vulnerable people in villages impacted by its activities. This event took place at the Bouss youth center, attended by provincial authorities and representatives of the beneficiaries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the representative of the country director, Kayaba Kabor, highlighted that this gesture is part of the mine’s social responsibility. The initiative aims to support households that have had to relocate and take over new farms due to mining activities, as well as to assist vulnerable families during this lean period. Mr. Kabor emphasized that Nord Gold Niou SA intends to go beyond temporary aid by developing projects that help restore affected households’ livelihoods and promote food self-sufficiency in communities.

The High Commissioner of Kourweogo Province, Mahamadi Congo, expressed appreciation for the donation and noted the importance of the mining project in advancing the country’s economic sovereignty. He urged local populations to show understanding and a spirit of sacrifice for the national interest, while also encouraging them to seize the socio-economic opportunities provided by mining.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Rasman Sankara conveyed gratitude to Nord Gold Niou SA, asserting that the donation will significantly bolster grain reserves, particularly for families who have ceded their land. He also called for increased employability and the recruitment of young people in mining activities.
