Kourweogo: As part of Pink October, the month dedicated to the fight against women’s cancers, the mobile clinic in the Oubri region carried out a free screening mission this Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Tangzougou Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), in the commune of Bousse. Several women received care and advice for better prevention.

According to Burkina Information Agency, team leader Dr. Dieudonne Y. Lompo stated that this activity is part of the national awareness and screening campaign for cervical cancer and breast cancer. Dr. Lompo emphasized that all medical services and inputs are completely free, encouraging women to overcome their fears and get tested to preserve their health. He highlighted that cancer detected early is treatable, significantly increasing the chances of recovery.

Dr. Lompo expressed satisfaction with the strong mobilization of women, which he saw as a sign of growing awareness about the importance of prevention. The team referred suspected cases to specialized health facilities for appropriate monitoring.

The grateful beneficiaries appreciated the initiative and expressed their blessings to the government authorities for the health initiatives taken for women and children. Noelie Ouedraogo, a housewife from sector 2 of Bousse, noted that the mobile clinic approach saves them from long trips to big cities for care. Teacher Nongbzanga Ouedraogo explained that the regular visits of the mobile clinic create a ripple effect, making women more willing to come for consultations.

This local operation contributes to strengthening equitable access to care and the fight against women’s cancers at the community level, aligning with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene. In addition to screening for precancerous cervical lesions and breast cancer, the medical team also provided pediatric consultations, screening and management of severe acute malnutrition in children aged 0 to 5 years, as well as breast self-examination demonstration sessions.
