Nahouri: The High Court (TGI) of P´ has initiated the execution of community service sentences for three convicted individuals, as observed by an AIB correspondent.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this significant development took place on Thursday, July 17, 2025, when the convicts commenced their community service within the court premises. AO, an electrician, was sentenced to 8 hours of community service for willful destruction of property in Dakola. He began his sentence by repairing faulty bulbs and batteries in the solar streetlights at the P´ High Court.
In addition to AO, two other individuals, TM and OT, are serving longer community service sentences of 56 hours and 240 hours, respectively. TM was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, while OT was found guilty of receiving stolen goods. Both are engaged in sanitation and cleaning tasks in the court’s courtyard.
The prosecutor of Faso at the High Court of P´, Ars¨ne Banc©, expressed appreciation for the support from Burkina’s authorities and emphasized the importance of community involvement for the success of such measures. He called upon entities mentioned in the law to request to become reception facilities for those sentenced to community service.
The convicts have responded positively to this initiative, considering it an educational opportunity that allows them to remain with their families, engage in productive activities, and fulfill their sentences.
