Nahouri: The Secretary General of the province of Nahouri, Emile Hien, launched the annual conference for teachers of post-primary and secondary education in Po. Several communications are set to be developed to ensure the effective implementation of educational reforms undertaken by the education department in the province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference, held under the theme “Strengthening teachers’ capacities for effective implementation of educational reforms,” brought together post-primary and secondary school teachers from Nahouri. Participants engaged in discussions on the skills-based approach, school councils, and establishments with multi-purpose classes.

The provincial director in charge of secondary education, Nahouri Malick SIMPORE, highlighted the significance of these themes. He emphasized the current employment challenges, stating that the traditional education system focuses on theoretical knowledge rather than practical skills. The Competency-Based Approach (CBA) is intended to address this gap and improve the educational framework.

Over the four-day conference, teachers will enhance their practices and prepare for new initiatives such as the school council and multi-purpose establishments. Emile Hien noted that the theme of this edition reflects the government’s commitment to developing a modern and efficient educational system rooted in local realities.

Mr. Hien underscored the dual nature of education as both a constructive and destructive force, depending on the values conveyed. He explained that the conference aims to consolidate participants’ understanding of CBA, school councils, and multi-purpose establishments. He urged attendees to take on the role of primary architects in the educational transformation upon returning to their respective schools.
