Nakamb: The Governor of the Nakamb region, accompanied by officials from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Burkinabe Red Cross (CRBF), chaired the opening of the first first aid training session on Wednesday in Tenkodogo for 30 key players in the region. The governor of the Nakamb region, Abdou Karim Lamizana, stressed the relevance of this initiative, indicating that in the face of security challenges, “the ability to provide rapid and appropriate assistance to people in distress becomes a vital imperative.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the training involves 30 participants selected from the region, divided into two sessions of three days each, from September 24 to 26 and from September 27 to 29, 2025, in the Magnifiques Services hall in Tenkodogo. The beneficiaries will acquire essential first aid skills, in order to play a relay role in their respective localities in the event of an incident.
In his speech, the head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Fada recalled that the organization has been present in Burkina Faso since 2006 and more specifically in the east since 2019. Its main mission is to reach out to affected populations in order to provide them with protection and assistance, in strict compliance with the principles of neutrality and humanity. He praised the close collaboration between the ICRC, the CRBF, and the authorities. Local administrative authorities believe that “humanitarian action becomes more effective when it is conducted in a spirit of complementarity and transparency.”
At the end of the speeches, the two officials expressed their hope that this first first aid training would pave the way for other similar actions, in order to sustainably strengthen the capacities of the Nakamb communities. The participants, for their part, pledged to put the training into practice for the benefit of the population.
This session marks a significant step forward in strengthening community resilience in the face of crises. It also illustrates the importance of partnership between humanitarian institutions and local authorities to protect life, alleviate suffering, and promote human solidarity.
