Ouagadougou: Burkinabe and Russian citizens, under the leadership of the Russian-Burkinabe association African Initiative, planted around a hundred plants in the garden of the special delegation of district 12 on Saturday , on the sidelines of National Arbor Day.

Around a hundred guava trees, baobabs and other local species were planted on Saturday June 22, 2024 in the garden of the special delegation of district 12 of Ouagadougou.

The work is from the Russian-Burkinabe association African Initiative in collaboration with several partners as part of National Tree Day.

For the president of the association Soumaïla Ayo, this gesture demonstrates the deep commitment of African Initiative in protecting the environment and the fight against climate change.

Mr. Ayo then invited his collaborators and partners to massively plant trees and maintain them in order to preserve this beautiful country.

In his opinion, this activity also made it possible to raise awareness among populations about the importance of safe
guarding the environment for future generations.

The representative of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Burkina, Anna Degtiareva, planted a baobab tree.

According to her, this tree symbolizes the antiquity of relations of solidarity between the Russian and Burkinabè peoples.

The company ‘Les Cascades’ took the opportunity to offer a prefabricated cement bench to the organizing association, demonstrating its commitment to this eco-citizen initiative.

The president of the special delegation of district 12, Zalissa Paré/Salembéré, stressed the need to develop this type of initiatives to fight against environmental degradation.

She expressed her thanks to African Initiative, before urging all the associations in her constituency to work for its development.

The Burkina Russia coalition, the Wayiyans of Kamboinssin, Golden Team, the Sidwaya association, the Russian-Burkinabe businessmen’s club and students from the DEES school, provided their support for the success of the event.

Everyone joined
forces to make this day a success.

As a reminder, the Russian-Burkinabe association was created in November 2023 with the aim of promoting friendship between the Russian and Burkinabe people. It carries out social and humanitarian actions in favor of the Burkinabè populations.
