Niamey: The Nigerien government has announced its intention to tackle the ongoing rise in tuition fees and address disparities between educational institutions within the country. This initiative was discussed during a Council of Ministers meeting chaired by the Head of State, Army General Abdourahamane Tiani.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting resulted in the adoption of a draft decree aimed at regulating tuition fees for private training establishments and institutions. The government document, which was shared with the ANP, emphasizes the President’s vision under “Inclusive Development of Human Capital,” highlighting education and training as primary governmental priorities.

The document notes that a national ad hoc committee was established to evaluate tuition fees across private training institutions. The committee’s findings underscored the necessity for the state to establish standardized rates. The draft decree aims to curb the annual increase in tuition fees and to address the disparities observed between similar educational institutions.
