Ouagadougou: The population of Ouangaladougou-Burkina mobilized strongly this Monday to rehabilitate the road linking their village to the capital of the commune, Niangoloko, via Timperba and Yendere.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this road, of vital importance for trade, is severely damaged over its 15 km length. For the occasion, all the village’s tricycles were requisitioned, and groups of volunteers could be seen working on each damaged section, to the rhythm of the kora.

“It is a source of pride for us to come together to rehabilitate this road after our resettlement. We cannot expect everything from the State, because the State is also us,” declared the president of the CVD of the village of Ouangaladougou, Mamadou Sirima, while praising the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traore and the action of the defense and security forces.

Mr. Sirima recalled that Ouangaladougou and the villages south of Niangoloko constitute the commune’s breadbasket. “Soon, the winter season will end and we will be able to sell our agricultural products. If the road is passable, our business will prosper, because we will have easy access to Niangoloko and Mangodara, an area of ??major agricultural production,” he added.

Indeed, a passable road will facilitate the sale of crops such as corn, millet, rice, and sesame, as well as the supply of food products to local markets. It will also allow traders and transporters to reduce their costs, increase the frequency of their trade, and further open the area to buyers from Banfora, Bobo-Dioulasso, and even neighboring Cote d’Ivoire. Ultimately, this accessibility will not only contribute to the prosperity of the inhabitants, but also to the improvement of their living conditions thanks to stable incomes and greater purchasing power.

The CVD president welcomed the strong support of the population for this community initiative, without which the village would be difficult to access.
