Oudalan: The commune of Gorom-Gorom recently concluded two weeks of sporting and recreational activities aimed at fostering social cohesion and unity among the host populations and internally displaced individuals. These events were organized by the Deou Citizen Watch.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the Deou Citizen Watch, Hadjiratou Brahima Cisse, described the activities as a period filled with emotion, joy, and communion among the youth, the fighting forces, and various administrative and customary authorities. She emphasized the importance of unity, solidarity, and resilience, asserting that these qualities are essential for building peace and development in Oudalan.
Cisse expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, including religious and traditional leaders, as well as the defense and security forces. The culmination of the activities was the final match of the maracana tournament, where TONDIKARA FC emerged victorious over AS Police with a score of 2-0. Both teams received medals, jerseys, a ball, and an envelope of money for their efforts.
The captain of TONDIKARA FC highlighted the significance of their victory, stating that it was not just a win against the Police but also a contribution to the Sahel and Burkina Faso. The police team, represented by Abdoul Kader Maiga, also expressed satisfaction with the tournament, noting that it provided an opportunity for the youth of Oudalan to engage in exchanges and share values of fraternity and solidarity.
Combere Alain Mari, the first vice-president of the special delegation of the Gorom-Gorom commune, praised the activities as a realization of communal living and commended the Citizen Watch for its commitment to bringing communities together. The organizers viewed the tournament as a space for dialogue and strengthening social cohesion in a region facing security challenges.
