Mouhoun: The Samendini Valley Integrated Development Program (PDIS) spearheaded a sanitation initiative on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in Dedougou, which included donating equipment to the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Sector 3 and distributing school kits to around a hundred children of soldiers who died in service. This initiative was part of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the PDIS organized this event with the involvement of administrative, health, and technical authorities from the Bankui region. The aim was to reinforce commitment to the authorities and people of the Bankui and Sourou region by promoting a healthy environment, participatory governance, and collective well-being, while also showing solidarity with the families of fallen soldiers.

The PDIS provided the CSPS of sector 3 in Dedougou with maintenance equipment, including basins, buckets, mops, and liquid soap. Dapoba Diarra, the regional director in charge of Human Rights in Bankui, representing the governor, praised the initiative as a commendable civic action. He emphasized that this activity is aligned with the Days of Commitment, which encourage Burkinabe citizens to engage in civic-mindedness and responsibility.

Diarra acknowledged the PDIS’s role in promoting exemplary patriotic behavior and enhancing public awareness of sanitation. He also recognized the program’s success in mobilizing the community around cleanliness and social cohesion.

Ibrahim Belem, the PDIS coordinator, highlighted that the sanitation activity is the first of many planned actions in the region. He explained that the PDIS, established in 2008, focuses on the integrated development of the Samendini Valley through various infrastructure projects. This civic activity reflects the program’s dedication to civic duty and solidarity.

The day concluded with the presentation of school kits at the military camp for the children of soldiers who have died in service. Dr. Nathalie Ouadeba, Chief Medical Officer of the Dedougou Health District, expressed gratitude for the selection of CSPS in sector 3 and the donated equipment, which will aid in maintaining hygiene at the clinic and maternity ward.

Dr. Ouadeba appreciated the PDIS’s ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of the Mouhoun community. During their stay in Dedougou, the PDIS will also conduct a workshop to validate its 2026-2028 investment plan with a committee comprising various ministerial departments and partner institutions.
