The mission manager at the presidency of Faso, Ali Bokoum, organized a regional conference in Dori to allow Sahelians to propose avenues for a rapid return to peace and social cohesion in this part of Burkina Faso.
Sponsored by the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, this conference, which brought together more than two hundred participants, was placed under the theme: ‘What contributions populations for the promotion of peace? “.
According to the organizer, Ali Bokoum, the long-term objective sought through this meeting is to impact the behavior of populations for a much more responsible citizenship focused on the commitment of all in the context of security crisis and deterioration. of the social climate.
Listening to Mr. Bokoum, this conference will allow in the short term to discuss collaboration between the administration, the defense and security forces (FDS) and local communities.
The mission manager added that this meeting also
aims to seek the contribution of civil society organizations (CSOs), NGOs and local populations in the promotion of peace and living together, as well as to popularize the presidential initiative for community development.
The governor of the Sahel region, Lieutenant-Colonel Fabien Rodolphe Sorgho, specified that this meeting will be an opportunity to harmonize points of view on the roles and responsibilities of each member of the community.
The conference was punctuated by two panels, one of which focused on the mutual expectations of the different actors faced with the security challenge and on the contribution of CSOs and NGOs in the process of endogenous development and living together, explained the first manager of the Sahel region.
For the Minister Delegate for Animal Resources, Amadou Dicko, representing the patron of this conference, the security challenge facing Burkina Faso requires close and concerted collaboration among the various stakeholders.
‘Today more than ever, we must join forces to b
uild lasting peace and strengthen social cohesion between the daughters and sons of the region,’ said Mr. Dicko.
While welcoming the significant presence of young people and women at this conference, the Minister Delegate added that it constitutes a unique opportunity to strengthen prevention strategies and the fight against violent extremism and radicalization.
He warmly congratulated the organizers for their commitment to promoting dialogue between local actors and expressed his willingness to support all actions aimed at promoting peace in the Sahel region.
