Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, continues his initiative to enhance the capabilities of Burkina Faso’s National Armed Forces. In a strategic move, the Supreme Commander of the National Armed Forces handed over an extensive array of military equipment to the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs, aimed at supporting the Field and Rapid Intervention Battalion (BACIR) and the Rapid Intervention Armored Brigade (BBIR).
According to Burkina Information Agency, Captain Ibrahim Traore officially transferred the keys to the newly acquired military vehicles to Brigadier General Celestin Simpore, the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs. This significant development is set to boost the operational capabilities of the troops engaged in various operations, enhancing their ability to protect and reassure the Burkinabe populace.
General Simpore emphasized the importance of the new equipment, describing it as cavalry equipment designed to deliver greater firepower and support to the units on the ground. The timely arrival of these resources is crucial for the ongoing enhancement of the Burkinabe Army.
The batch of military hardware includes VN 22B assault guns, modular multiple rocket launchers, 120 mm howitzer mortar systems, and D30 howitzer systems. These armored vehicles are notably equipped with laser-guided missile systems, offering a combination of mobility and firepower that distinguishes them in the field.
Minister Simpore remarked that this handover is part of a broader initiative to equip the national armed forces with the necessary tools for defense, ensuring the integrity of the territory following its complete reconquest. The new equipment is expected to play a pivotal role in maintaining national security and stability.
