President of High Court of Po Pledges to Prioritize Consultation

Nahouri: The interim president of the High Court of Po, Sylvain Bayala, installed, this Friday, October 3, 2025, the president of the High Court of Po, magistrate, Jean-Pierre Somtiligri Ouedraogo. He pledged to listen to everyone, to prioritize consultation and communication with the various stakeholders.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of the High Court of Po, Magistrate Jean Pierre Somtiligri Ouedraogo, was officially installed during a formal hearing. The ceremony saw the presence of provincial authorities led by the High Commissioner, the High Council of the Judiciary, and several guests.



The installation ceremony commenced with the reading of the texts by the chief clerk. This was followed by congratulations from the public prosecutor at the Po high court, Arsene Banse, and the outgoing interim president, Sylvain Bayala. The public prosecutor emphasized two main objectives of the installation: ensuring the new magistrate fully understands his responsibilities and introducing him to the community he will serve.



Jean Pierre Somtiligri Ouedraogo expressed his gratitude to the country’s highest authorities for his appointment. He committed to listening to all and emphasized the importance of consultation and communication with various stakeholders. He also highlighted the necessity for legal actors to adapt to the current national context and ongoing legislative reforms.



Mr. Ouedraogo urged legal actors to balance fundamental and universal principles of justice with the need for endogenous justice, taking into account the specific national situation. During the ceremony, recognition was also given to three judges-Fran§ois S. Some, Rabiatou Balkissa Bitibaly/Ouedraogo, and Abdouramane Doronti-who received accolades for their five years of service in the jurisdiction.
