Zoungrantenga: The city of Zoungrantenga, capital of the Nakamb region, hosted on Monday, in the talon multipurpose hall, the official launching ceremony of the Regional Culture Week (SRC) 2025. This step constitutes an essential milestone in the process of selecting the region’s cultural ambassadors to participate in the National Culture Week (SNC), scheduled from April 25 to May 2, 2026, in Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Security, Mahamoudou Sana, and saw the participation of administrative, traditional, and religious authorities alongside a large crowd. In his speech, the Minister praised the bravery of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and the civilian population, whose determination enabled the event to take place peacefully. He also expressed his thoughts for the victims of terrorism and wished for the recovery of the injured.

Minister Sana congratulated the
regional organizing committee, led by the governor of the Nakamb region, for its effective mobilization and coordination. He extended gratitude to the representative of the Director General of the National Identity Office, sponsor of the 2025 edition, and His Majesty Naaba Guigmpol, Dima of Zoungrantenga, King of Tenkodogo, for their contributions. “This edition is of particular importance because it reminds us that culture is a driving force for peace and development, especially in the current security context,” he stated.

The SRC 2025 introduces several innovations, including the advancement of competitions to September, allowing artists more time for preparation. The event also sees the participation of the Burkinabe diaspora, particularly those living in Niger, for the first time. A repechage system has been established for ballet and choreographic creation, allowing second-placed troupes with a minimum score of 14/20 to qualify.

In culinary art, preparation times have been standardized: four hours for
main courses, three hours for light dishes, two and a half hours for desserts, and two hours for drinks. According to SNC Executive Director Christiane Sanon/Coulibaly, these innovations aim to ensure fairness and enhance artistic quality.

The SRC 2025 in Tenkodogo is intended to be a framework for creativity and fraternity, reflecting Burkina Faso’s desire to promote its cultural values and strengthen national cohesion.
