Dori: The General Directorate of General Education (DGEG) is organizing educational days from October 7 to 10, 2025, in Dori for the benefit of secondary school teachers, vocational, and technical training teachers from the provinces of Seno and Yagha.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this 2025 session is part of the national program for initial and continuing training of teaching staff, led by the ministry responsible for secondary education, vocational, and technical training. The main objective of these days is to strengthen the professional skills of teachers to enable them to better take ownership of the reforms underway in the education system.
These reforms include the implementation of the competency-based approach and the individualized pathway (APC/PI), two teaching methods which aim to place the learner at the center of the teaching/learning process. Damien Tiendrebeogo, the provincial director of secondary education and vocational and technical training of Seno, emphasized that these meetings provide a framework for exchanges allowing teachers to revisit their practices, share experiences, and adapt to pedagogical innovations.
Mr. Tiendrebeogo noted that these pedagogical days offer teachers a space for reflection, analysis, and professional development. They are expected to strengthen teachers’ mastery of modern teaching tools, improve lesson planning, and adopt innovative methods that meet the needs of learners.
The work will further explore several major innovations supported by the Ministry’s new guidelines, including multi-purpose establishments as a response to the challenges of equity, quality, and the rationalization of human resources in the education sector. Vocational training will be emphasized to prepare young people for socio-professional integration through practical training.
Participants will also discuss the school council, an instrument of participatory governance, and civic and citizenship education, which is intended to consolidate republican values, social cohesion, and the culture of peace. The provincial director invited participants to demonstrate diligence, rigor, and commitment throughout the sessions to maximize their benefits.
Through these educational days, the General Directorate of General Education reaffirms its desire to support teachers in their mission of education and transmission of knowledge. These meetings in Dori reflect the ministry’s determination to promote quality, inclusive education while strengthening the skills of teaching staff in service of national development.
