Boudry: The Sanbrado Mining Company (SOMISA) has responded to complaints from the agriculture department and two health centers by donating equipment valued at more than 8 million FCFA. The beneficiaries include the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Mankarga Traditionnelle, the Agriculture Department in Boudry Commune, and the CSPS of Zempassogo in Zorgho Commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation to Mankarga Traditionnelle consists of two wardrobes, hand-washing facilities, gowns, shoes, and disinfectant tablets, totaling 3,207,500 CFA francs. The CSPS of Zempassogo received 2,200,000 CFA francs worth of pharmaceutical products. Meanwhile, the Boudry agricultural service was provided with office equipment including desks, computers, a printer, armchairs, and chairs, valued at 3,855,700 CFA francs.

Sansan Hugues Kambire, Senior Coordinator of SOMISA’s Livelihood Restoration Program, stated that this initiative aligns with the company’s social responsibility policy and addresses the needs expressed by the beneficiaries. He emphasized SOMISA’s commitment to the communities and assured that the company will continue to assess grievances to contribute to local socio-economic development.

Babou Yaro, representing the Chief Medical Officer of the Zorgho Health District, expressed gratitude to SOMISA, noting the donation’s timely contribution to enhancing the protection and performance of staff and the population. He encouraged the staff to maintain and utilize the equipment effectively.

Soutongnoma Aristide Yameogo, the secretary general of Boudry town hall, highlighted the significance of the donation amid budgetary constraints, appreciating the mining company’s favorable response to their request. He urged the beneficiaries to make optimal use of the donations and called for SOMISA to continue listening to community needs.

Ms. Aminata Compaore/Ilboudo, head of the Boudry agricultural technical support area, expressed her service’s gratitude, highlighting how the equipment alleviates their lack of essential office supplies. She also mentioned infrastructure needs like electricity and boundary demarcation for their building.

This donation is part of SOMISA’s ongoing community support, which includes various projects such as constructing a store and drying area in Pilaka, providing fertilizer and food, and supplying kits to women’s associations in Yaika and Zorgho, totaling over 54 million CFA francs in community investments.
