Bamako: The Malian Ministry of National Education has ordered the immediate suspension of the teaching of the French Revolution of 1789 in ninth-grade classes, according to an official note marked as “very urgent.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, the directive was issued on Thursday by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Boubacar Dembele. The note instructed the directors of the Teaching Academies to urgently and without delay suspend this portion of the history curriculum. The decision to remove the lesson did not include an explanation for the measure but emphasized “strict compliance with the terms of this document.”

The authenticity of the note was confirmed by several Malian sources, as reported by the AIB. Mr. Dembele issued a stern warning that any actions contrary to the directive would compel him to take necessary measures.
