Kampti: Two young brothers died early Tuesday, around 4 a.m., in a landslide at a traditional gold mining site in Yolonhira, a village located about 6 km from Kampti, in Poni province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, local sources reported that the younger brother was in a hole when it partially collapsed. In a tragic turn of events, his older brother was also buried in the same hole while attempting a rescue when the cavity completely collapsed.

The villagers were quick to respond, mobilizing efforts to remove the bodies from the collapsed site. Law enforcement and health personnel arrived at the scene to conduct an assessment of the tragedy before the remains were returned to the family for funeral services.
