ULBO Begins 2025-2026 Academic Year with Focus on Patriotism and Civic Engagement

Yaadga region: ULBO is making its formal return to school in 2025-2026. The solemn ceremony for the start of the 2025-2026 academic year at the university was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the institution’s site in Somiaga.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the President of ULBO, Professor Adama Oueda, in his speech during the solemn ceremony, recalled that it is under the theme “Patriotism and civic engagement in the student environment” that the university community has decided to begin the 2025-2026 academic year. Given the relevance of the theme, the head of the temple of knowledge invited professors, researchers, staff, and students to raise awareness and get involved in social issues. Professor Adama Oueda, with a sense of pride, recalled that the institution received the “Zero Academic Delay” award in 2024 while announcing that the university had completed all its programs for the 2024-2025 academic year on July 31, 2025.



The sponsors’ representative, who is also the president of the University of St. Edwige Ramata Ilboudo/Diallo, praised the resilience and hard work of the university community. She invited the students to be pathfinders and leaders of tomorrow, promoting a range of values. This academic year, which coincides with the second phase of the JEPPC, the Ministry of Human Rights, in partnership with ULBO, facilitated the organization of the meeting for exchanges and sharing of experiences with the Etoiles du Faso. The Governor of the Yaadga region, Thomas Yampa, on behalf of the Minister of Justice, congratulated the university stakeholders for their mobilization to make this academic year a success.



The regional authority recalled in his speech that the current challenge for our nation is to promote civic and patriotic values. “I reiterate my encouragement to you to continue your efforts with determination in order to inspire the collective memory in favor of a united and united Burkina Faso,” he said to the university community. This day, which marks the start of academic activities, was an opportunity for ULBO students to interact with the Etoiles du Faso from several sectors of activity. Sawadogo Binta, processor, Ms. Ilboudo/Diallo Ramata from the University of Ste Edwige, Sare Inoussa, president of the Etoiles du Faso, and Bayala Andre, chef chocolatier, shared their experiences and careers and urged the students to discipline and entrepreneurship.



An award ceremony for the best students from the 14 ULBO courses and letters of congratulations to the promoted CAMES teachers brought the academic year to a close after the inaugural lecture given by Police Commissioner Paul Nikiema on the central theme of the new school year. This academic year was held under the patronage of the governor of the Yaadga region, Thomas Yampa, in the presence of eminent personalities.
