UN: SEA Prime Ministers Hold Consultations Ahead of Saturday Meeting

New york: Prime Ministers of the member states of the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States met in New York on Wednesday to harmonize their views before their participation in the general debate of the 80th UN General Assembly, which will be held on September 27.



According to Burkina Information Agency, this meeting brought together Burkinabe Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Oudraogo and his counterparts from Mali, Abdoulaye Maga, and Niger, Ali Lamine Zeine. Their goal was to present a common front and bring the voice of the people of the AES to the United Nations podium on Saturday, September 27, 2025.



Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop stated that this meeting allowed heads of government to share their analyses of the global situation and to reaffirm the aspirations of the peoples of the AES. In particular, they emphasized the need for independence, sovereignty, and a break with practices that do not serve the interests of their populations.



The Prime Ministers also planned collective actions to jointly bring the AES’s message to the United Nations. They particularly welcomed the Confederation’s progress and commended the leadership of their respective heads of state. The Malian diplomat concluded by reiterating the commitment of the governments of the AES to work in solidarity to achieve the goal of dignity and prosperity for their peoples.
