Boulgou/zabre: Youngou high school receives roofs to rehabilitate its buildings damaged by bad weather: Following the violent storms of last May which damaged several infrastructures in Zabre, including that of the Youngou high school, the Youga gold mine (Soleil Ressources International) responded favorably to the call for help launched by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune, Alain Boubie Bassano, by offering roofs for six classrooms.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on May 15, 2025, torrential rain accompanied by gusts of wind caused significant material damage in the commune of Zabre, particularly at the Youngou high school where six of the eight classrooms had their roofs blown off.
Faced with this situation, the PDS of Zabre, Alain Boubie Bassano, had launched a heartfelt appeal to partners and goodwill in order to re-establish acceptable learning conditions for students.
The appeal was not without response. On October 1, 2025, the representative of the general manager of the Youga gold mine, Antoine Attiou, officially handed over the roofing materials needed to repair the six damaged classrooms.
“The Youga gold mine remains attentive to the needs of the population, particularly in priority areas such as education and health. When we were approached, we responded immediately. We provided all the required construction materials,” said Antoine Attiou during the handover.
Zabre’s PDS, Alain Boubie Bassano, welcomed this support from the mining company. “On the eve of the start of the school year, this gesture will allow the students of Youngou High School to resume classes in better conditions. We express our deep gratitude to the mine for this act of solidarity,” he said.
The principal of the Youngou Departmental High School, Ousmane Sawadogo, also expressed his satisfaction. “Thanks to this donation, a great deal of relief has been brought to our educational community. We thank the mine, the PDS, and all those who supported our appeal.”
Local people have pledged to contribute by providing aggregates and labor to complete the work.
