Ouagadougou: Kambambori “A” school hosted this Wednesday the official opening of the annual pedagogical conference of preschool and primary school teachers of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Zorgho. The ceremony was chaired by the Secretary General of the Town Hall, Mr. Rodrigue Dabire, representing the President of the special municipal delegation. It was attended by Ms. Nobila Celestine Zagre/Zoungrana, Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education, and the Head of the CEB of Zorgho, Mr. Raogo Jean Claude Ouedraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his opening address, Mr. Dabire conveyed the encouragement of the President of the special delegation to the teachers. He praised their commitment to youth training and urged them to take ownership of the ongoing educational reforms and ensure their effective implementation on the ground. The 2025-2026 school year, he indicated, promises to be marked by several innovations: the teaching of English starting in the first grade, the introduction of information and communication technologies in schools, and an introduction to careers. These measures, according to him, aim to better prepare students for a “competitive and globalized” world.
The conference, scheduled for October 15-18 across the country, is part of the dynamic reforms carried out by the Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages (MEBAPLN). The objective: to strengthen the quality of education through the Integrative Pedagogical Approach (API), in effect since 2015, and to equip educational stakeholders to face new challenges.
The Head of the CEB, Mr. Ouedraogo, congratulated the teachers for their remarkable results in the 2025 Primary School Certificate (CEP). He urged them to continue their efforts to train responsible and patriotic citizens, “capable of meeting the challenges of the country’s socio-economic development.” He stressed the need for effective appropriation of the conference themes in order to effectively reinvest them in the classroom.
For her part, the provincial director in charge of preschool and primary education, Ms. Zagre/Zoungrana, praised the teachers’ determination and their central role in the success of the education system. She encouraged them to cultivate in their students a love of work well done and a sense of duty. For four days, participants will reflect on the central theme: “Implementation of educational reforms and appropriation of integration situations”, with particular emphasis on the new Orientation Framework for Continuing Education and Educational Supervision (COFCEP).
In Zorgho, teachers are spread across 5 sites to follow this important educational activity.
